Its been a loooonnnngggg week. Album was out on Monday so been running around all week with meetings radio and shows. Did maida vale radio 1 session for huw stephens and then went mobos to get my vip on on wed and 1xtra and album launch in ldn. Rolled in at 6am. Very long day! Tour time, been having some real fun. Started last week at kings college freshers ball dj set with short blitz, then we went on to Swansea, wasn’t mad busy but it was a good night and nice to see skinny and million again. Bristol the next night was off the chains, it was like this small room that fitted like 200 but they got like 300 in there and it was nutty, when skinny did ‘ill be surprised’ it went oooofffffff!!!!! Stig and syntax held it down and the freestyle bit was ill. Theres a new kid on the tour called Jack Flash who got a real tight set. Highlight of the show was Million Dan who is a monster live. We did Peterborough sat night which was a tiny little club but nice vibe, ended up in a cypha outside which is something I aint seen in a while. ILUVLIVE last night with Wreh-asha, Malik and David Gibb. And we got many on sat.

Bnp in stoke

Just got back from an anti bnp rally in stoke. This asian family had been harrassed and abused by there bnp member neighbours who one day attacked the asian families son so the dad came out stabbed him in the back because he was straggling his son. The gave him 8yrs. The bnp guy died (good). So the bnp had a rally up there today to get support in the poor white areas. And we went up to protest. The police protetected the bnp as much as possible which led to a stand off in town and a bit of a scuffle. The photo was of the pig stood directly in front of me. If it had gone down he was gonna get it.
I'm now told nick griffin and the bnp are coming to derby this wednesday. Like fuck they are, to my town! They gotta be nuts, in my ends. There gonna get run outta town. There meetin at the bins at spondon asda at 6.30. Pls come and join me to greet them.

So the BNP are holding there national festival near my house just outside derby. So we put on a love music hate racism gig on the same day to show protest. We had asher d, tiny tempah, rukus, malik, mz bratt, wretch 32 and a host of other artists all giving there time up for free to come and perform.
But, the filthy stinking pig face racist degenerate police pulled the event by intimidating the venue into not letting us use the place.
It was a free event and there were loads of kids looking forward to coming down and the pigs ruined it whilst the BNP get to have there event.

Klash brought his dog ‘terror’ with him, only, terror, ran away and was found by some local st annes lads who kept him, renamed him and dressed him in a st annes bandana. So klash goes walkin the streets lookin for terror and the local corner shop owner told him hed seen him and puts him in touch with the lads mum, who calls the police on her son and the police end up bringing the dog back at one in the morning. After an unfortunate incident where I left it in the corner store whilst buying a bottle of water and by the time id driven back round the block to get some little scamp had nabbed it. So we on day 5 of this jay Z tour. A looootttt of drivin. We in glasgow tonight, aberdeen 2moro. It was nuts, drivin up scotland is so beautiful its like something out of a movie and then u hit glasgow and its a complete shit hole high rises and empty streets.
The tours been good fun manchester last night was like 9000 people which was nuts, (were used to doin performances for 200 people) kanye came through and performed too. Were yet to actually meet jay Z, theres this on tour status thing were jay z gets kept away from everyone else then there's ronson and crew, then there's us, today we got told to hang outside in the cars till we go on... Yeah right, we went in ate there free food and hung out. Its been a good look tho and people seem to know us and the remix everywhere we go. We gotta a little street team give out babyfood flyers and condoms too with pickets and stuff. Life on the road.

Ruffnek video shoot

So I been workin on the new video to my next single from babyfood called 'ruffnek set the trend' it was meant to be a performance shoot in this club with a band (patchwork grace) who were pretending to play the track (its got a bit of a punk vibe so we tryin to get that look) but basically million dan (star no.1 in the video) had problems pickin up his rental and was 2hrs late down to the shoot and star no.2 tawiah who sings the hook ate a dodgy pizza the night before and spent the mornin throwing up so couldn't come down at all. So... We decided to scrap the idea and use the idea we had for the video for the farma G track on my album doin morph like (if u old enough to remember morph) animation to tell the story and use the performance stuff as a cut away shot. So we made these plastercine models of me million dan and tawiah and painted background scenes. It was mad fun I even got us doin syncronised dance routines. Gonna look a bit next when it comes out so it'll either be all over mtv or hidden somewhere on youtube. Send a link up here as soon as its done. Word to the million morph.

Just got back from the o2 wireless fest at hyde park. Performin with mark ronson and jay z was headlining. Was nuts and good fun even though the tour manager made wait outside for 2hrs before bringing us our passes! It was a who's who of uk music I bumped heads with adele, lilly allen, kano, wiley (who absolutely smacked it) cool kids, david jordan and dizzie rascal who was just down there on a promo tip even tho he's no.1 in the charts and best of all the lead singer of the charlatans, I was quite star stuck, we was all into the charlatans at school. We about to do the whole jayZ tour with mark so that should be good. Very tired and I got stuff to do early before head back to london again. 1up

so, I'm sat in the cinema watchin chronicles of narnia with my daughter and its wack so I thought I'd update my blog.
Just got back from mcs for life which is like seminars, performances and workshops all around mcing. The sat was in brum and sun in manchester. I was up there both days makin a beat live and then cats come and spit on the trk and we record it there and then. The evnt was good over all but manny had the best vibe. They love that mc stuff in manny. Its like everywhere else artists be makin music in the studio and build there rep like that but in manny u gotta be a ble to jump on an open mic and earn ur stripes to build your rep.
The performances where good lord finesse took me back, a pleasure to watch but million dan smacked it up BIG!!!! And stig of the dump did his thing so rukus was sayin (ruks was hostin the brum event) black thought from the roots was there and walked from the bar to the stage (lean) performed one track and walked back to the bar... weak. I'm tied of these yanky mcs comin over and takin the piss like they aint gotta make an effort, he was the headline act and peeps had paid they're money to see him. Big up milly and stig holdin down the UK.

So I got my new mixtape coming out in July. Its basically all the beats I released on different projects (ftp2, precha, antourage etc) since my last mixtape with different mcs each spitting one 16, theres like over 60 mcs on there, I put it together with my boy matt from datsound, he did the shameless album and the excalibah mixtapes. Highlights for me is loudmouth on the Valerie beat, alex bloods verse and maliks verse. Blog time. Strange title I know, but we got these video diary things that
alex is doing and is f*ing great. Soon come, Ill post some links asap. Just
finishing off the 'lies' video aswell posted a pic above. Its the first
single of babyfood, featuring nathan and asher d. Its basically us drivin
round london in a car (hopefully its better than I jus made it sound) we had
this big camera mount thing on the bonnet and lights in the car shining in
my face and I'm diving round the west end in london, to cut a long story
short I couldn't see a thing and I was certain we was gonna pulled up by the
pigs, which wasn't helped by the fact that asher had the music up full blast
and the windows down and kept shoutin out the window at people.
Londoners...so when u see the vid and I'm squinting all the way thru u know

So today is my birthday. Im a big old 35 years old which makes me old enough to be chipmunks dad, wow. Ive always felt ready to be the age I am as I feel ive done a lot with my years, kinda had a chilled one today but bac on the grind hard tomorrow as ive got to get the first draft of my album into the label for them to listen to, its almost ready just got to get a hook in from aynzli jones (big singer on mercury) and get wre-asha to lay her vocals this week. Right now im loving the farma g track, it’s the first time weve actually worked on a track together and farma says one his favourite trks hes done in his career which was a big compliment. Ill try post some album snippets up on my blog soon for people to hear. Biography

Baby Js first release was a 12” with Shabazz the Disciple (Wu-tang, Penalty records).
He released more 12” tracks with Shabazz and produced mixtape tracks for Brand Nubian, dead prez and Iman thug.

In 98 he released ‘The Birth’ (Bomb Hip Hop) a solo album featuring US and UK MCs including Shabazz the Disciple, Freestyle (the Arsonists) and Poetic (The Gravediggaz) r.i.p. The album sold throughout the US and Europe and was supported with a European tour and two videos on MTV.

Baby J has gone on to do production work, for UK artists including MSI asylum (Gran Kru records) and Yogi (Ant records) with an LP and video ‘Jamaica child’ placed on regular rotation on MTV and MTV Base. Production work on UK artists Moorish Delta 7 LP and classic 12” ‘Silent Screams’ and mixing and studio work including theme tunes for terrestrial TV.

He has worked with dead prez (Loud records) on their debut LP and has worked with RnB acts including Mpho Skeef, Dwaine and Laurissa, a new UK artist whose Baby J produced track ‘Shorty’ won 3rd place in Trevor Nelsons (BBC radio 1) search for an urban talent, and received great radio support. Baby J is currently working on Laurissa’a debut album, due to be released at the end of this year.

Baby J produced tracks for Skinnyman’s ‘Council estate of mind’ album (lowlife records) including the singles ‘I’ll be surprised’ (radio One record of the week) and ‘No big Ting’, which was radio One C-listed, received regular daytime airplay as well as being playlisted for 1xtra and BBC radio 6.

Last year saw the success of Baby J’s second solo album, F.T.P which featured artists from both the UK and the USA including Skinnyman, Blade, TY, Dead Prez and Shystie.
F.T.P featured the massave hit of last year, ‘Let It Go remix’ Rukus feat TY, Klashnekoff & Yogi which recieved daytime play list on Galaxy Fm and A Listed on 1xtra. The previous single from baby J and Rukus ‘What she said’ was also A listed on 1xtra.

Last year also saw the release of the Baby J produced Blade album ‘Guerilla tactics’ which produced the singles ‘four wall’s’ and ‘It’s your time’. ‘It’s your time’ received regular rotation on channel U and MTV Base, and lots of support from radio.

Baby J released his first mixtape, ‘for the people – F.T.P mixtape’ in conjunction with Dat Sound, in July 2006. The mixtape features 66 of the UK’s finest MC’s all spitting a verse each over Baby J’s back catalogue of previously released beats. The mixtape features artists such as Rodney P, Skinnyman, Jammer, Klashnekoff, Fallacy and Rukus.

Baby J has just released his third solo album ‘ F.T.P – Fight the Power’ on All City Records.
The album has received fantastic reviews and is considered to be Baby J’s best body of work to date. The album features a selection of UK talent including Poisonous Poets, Fallacy, Rukus, Mr Ti2bs and many more. The lead single from the album ‘Young. Gifted & Black’ has received amazing radio support, has been play listed on BBC 1xtra and has had numerous radio one support and even ‘record of the week’.

Baby J has recently been voted ‘The UK’s best underground producer’ at the Urban Music awards, pushing his profile to much greater heights. The F.T.P Mixtape has also recently nominated for two BBC 1xtra mixtape awards, in ‘Best mixtape 2006’ and ‘Best concept’ catorgaries.

Recent work has included remixes for Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson. Baby J’s remix of ‘Valerie’ was no.2 in the national charts and stayed in the top ten for 11 weeks, as well as being no.1 on MTV airplay charts for 5 weeks. Baby J has also done production work for Mercury Records and Sony.

Ten years after his first album, Baby J is currently working on his latest album ‘Babyfood’ set for release later this year.
